[Ebook] Making it Happen: The Autobiography Con Carl Hester – Vehikool.co.uk

Making it Happen: The Autobiography If only this book had been written when I was in high school, perhaps I would have been inspired to live my life in a similar way, focused on the horse I really enjoyed reading Carl s life story and about the wonderful horses who helped him to become the man he is today. When I first started to read the book I was disappointed I initially thought that the conversational style was tiresome, and read like a confusing ramble through past exploits than a genuine autobiography However, on finishing the book I have to revise my opinion pretty thoroughly Once I got used to his style, the book was very enjoyable and full of inside tracking on the elite world of dressage, as well as important personal insights on how to maintain happy horses I shall certainly go on to follow Mr Hester in print and other media Mr Hester you have gained a huge fan The book assumes a familiarity with the sport and a lot of the players, but is almost impossible to put down Some of the experiences he recounts are laugh out loud funny, and interspersed among the anecdotes are fascinating words of wisdom that stay with the reader What also makes an impression is the realization that his was not a seamless, effortless rise to the top, but took resilience, flexibility, and that incredible sense of humor and people skills And for dressage riders, the book is a good reminder that the journey is meant to be fun and filled with friendships What a good role model he is in so many ways. Like many others, I was eagerly awaiting this to be released I purchased through for Kindle, the quickest and easiest way I find to read a book at the moment.I thought it was a really interesting read and a very insightful look into his life From growing up on Sark, the family situation or lack thereof , all the people who contributed along the way and the various horses being bought, trained and sold.I can t say it s a really flowing read, I perhaps took it from the perspective that you were getting 101 short stories or almost snippets Not a continued novel as such flowing from one place to the next but so a tale about a trip, leading into a lovely piece of gossip about another horse or person encountered.Insightful from the perspective in that you see or read just how damn hard he has worked, the risks he has taken and the ultimate belief in what he was doing I also love the way the 2012 Olympics is talked about like just another show, which of course it is for the horses and riders attending but not for the rest of the world You loose the grandiose ideas and in comes all the normal dramas encountered from stabling to warm up arenas and placement on draws.I thought it was lovely how he spoke of Isabell Werth and her congratulating people on well deserved wins The people he has met along the way, including Dr B, Charlotte and the various tales of acquiring trucks and facilities Oh and I laughed when Jilly Cooper gets a mention Carl Hester Is One Of The Greatest Ever Equestrians, Leading Great Britain To Gold Medal Victory At The London Olympics In These Vibrant Memoirs, He Tells The Incredible Story Of The Passion For Horse Riding Which Revolutionised His Life And Made Him The Champion He Is TodayCarl Grew Up On The Remote Channel Island Of Sark, Moving To The UK Mainland At The Age Of To Work With Horses, Mainly As A Way To Leave Home He Could Never Have Predicted What A Great Affinity He Would Have For Dressage Carl S Career Enjoyed A Stratospheric Rise As He Progressed From Working As A Groom Rider To Riding International Dressage Horses Full Time For Renowned Owners Dr And Mrs Bechtolsheimer, To Training His Own Horses, And Other Top Riders, To International SuccessCarl S Early Career Revealed Someone Capable Of Monumental Achievements He Provides A Rare Insight Into Both The People And The Horses That Drove Him To Victory, Initially The Skewbald Mare Jolly Dolly On Which He Won The Young Riders Dressage Championship During The Early S He Rode In The World Championships, The European Championships And The Barcelona Olympics, Becoming Great Britain S Youngest Ever Rider To Compete In The Games His Riding Skills Have Increased With Age, Culminating In The Hugely Successful Years As Part Of The Gold Medal Teams That Won The European Dressage Championships And, Of Course, That Made History At London He Achieved Both Feats On The Same Extraordinary Horse, Uthopia, While As A Trainer He Produced The Even Remarkable Combination Of Charlotte Dujardin And ValegroA First Class Sportsman And A Witty And Engaging Writer, Carl Now Offers His Admirers The Opportunity To Read An Intelligent, Humorous And, Above All, Inspiring Account Of His Life From The Ups And Downs Of His Career To The Motivations And Techniques Which Have Helped Him To Win National Titles, Represent Team GB At Four Olympic Games, Two World Championships And Seven European Championships, And Become One Of The Best Riders And Horsemen In The World
